VidVersity for Agricultural Training
Providing training in the agriculture industry has many challenges including:
- Geographical – many of the learners are in remote locations making it difficult for them to attend live training courses.
- Practical training – traditional online training is often not much value as it is very text based and that is not the best way to teach practical skills such as servicing a chain saw.
- Diversity of learners – the level of education is varied and often text based learning is not the most effective.
VidVersity solves these issues by enabling the creation of interactive videos. Video is an incredible medium to demonstrate “how to’s” and by breaking it into small ‘micro learning’ videos the learner can learn and access relevant information as needed.
We have been working with an agricultural training organisation in Queensland to help them deliver practical skills training as part of their Livestock Production course. Although some of the course could be delivered onsite (the property) it was only for a limited time. So they captured videos using the VidVersity phone app of the instructors handling livestock which included commentary by the instructors. This was then uploaded directly to the VidVersity platform and the learning team were able to build a series of modules demonstrating ‘best practice’.
Then using the VidVersity Benchmark app the students filmed themselves demonstrating the skills and submitted to the LMS for the teacher to view and comment.
All this was done in a simple, secure environment and entirely remotely.
