About the Merit Award entry

This Merit Award demonstrates the brilliant collaboration between Swinburne’s exceptional team of researchers and software engineers specialising in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Vidversity’s distinguished expertise in the education domain, providing a deep understanding of modern learning platforms.

This collaborative research has resulted in the development of a cutting-edge solution VidVersity DL, a platform that utilises advanced NLP, AI, and software engineering techniques to innovate video-based learning through automatic question generation and answer assessment. The tool is a powerful addition to the digital toolbox for teachers, enabling learning with embedded assessment to be generated rapidly any time from any video-based resource. It provides the opportunity to scale assessment to large learner cohorts throughout the teaching process, to relieve teacher workloads and identify learning gaps and meet the diverse needs of learners.

Teachers can now gain insights into learner needs, and optimise their workloads for greater efficiency, and facilitating an engaging and personalised learning experience. VidVersity DL is set to transform the way we approach education and learning technologies, making a significant impact in the field.

This collaborative team is honoured to be recognised by the iAwards 2023 program and look forward to representing Swinburne and Vidversity at the National finals. This achievement marks an incredible milestone in our journey to reshape the future of education with cutting-edge technology.
